The Sugar Story, 2007
Duration: 05:34
video

Camera: Brian Smith

As a child, there were few things in the world that gave me such delight as candy.  My father was concerned about my obsession, and one evening while we were sorting socks from the laundry on his and my mother's bed, he told me a tale of a little girl who ate nothing but candy.  As an adult, I’ve never forgotten this fantastic story.  I have adapted my father’s version into The Sugar Story.  In the video, my father’s image is projected onto me, and I speak as if I were he.  But I also become the little girl, as I morph into my painting, Red.
