The Ballad of Barbara Leech

The Ballad of Barbara Leech, 2006
Duration: 20:00
live performance

This performance deals with the trials and tribulations of teen love and angst through the point of view of both a male and a female.  These multiple identities are translated by the changing projections of my father, my mother, and myself.  The narrative is created through the weaving of short stories and lip-synching to various nostalgic melodies from the 1950’s and 1960’s.  In this piece, I remember my own terror of love, present the sheer beauty of my mother, and recount the fond memories from my father’s first big crush…Barbara Leech, who “really was a peach”.
